VMware Bangalore invites applications for the post of Technical Writer with around 3 years of experience in technical writing.
The ideal candidate must have strong writing skills, enjoy working with a team in a fast-paced environment, and be able to understand and explain complex technical concepts.
Responsibilities:
- Create documentation for technical end users of virtual machines and virtualization technology. Documentation consists of installation guides, user guides, release notes, online help, and knowledge-base articles.
- Gather information by working closely with engineers and writers, reading design documents and specifications, and using pre-release software.
- Create documentation designs, plans, and schedules.
- Update documentation for minor software releases
- Create manuals for major releases.
- Use FrameMaker to deliver high quality documentation on schedule.
- Create online help with tools such as Quadralay Webworks.
- Create PDF files for print vendors and HTML for our Web site.
Requirements:
- Graduates in Computer Science or a related field.
- Two to three years of experience writing software documentation for a technical audience.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Should be familiar with different forms of global communication such as conference calls, holding Webex sessions, etc.
- Ability to work with a team of writers and engineers through all stages of the software development cycle, from concept to final product release.
- Ability to learn complex concepts quickly and explain them clearly.
- Must be flexible and enjoy working with new technology in a fast-paced environment where requirements change. Experience with VMware software or virtualization concepts is another plus point.
- Basic knowledge of UNIX/Linux.
- Experience developing online help.
- Experience with XML authoring tools is desirable.
- Knowledge of information design, structured writing, XML, and DITA is a plus.
